Question: I purchased a shared hosting/VPS/dedicated server/colocation plan with xxxx GB. If I pay for a year in advance, is this my total bandwidth to use all year?
Answer: Absolutely not! All plans on our website, whether it is a shared hosting, VPS, dedicated server, or colocation plan, that have bandwidth expressed in an amount (e.g. 1,000GB) reset monthly on your billing anniversary date. If you pay quarterly, biannually, annually, or multiple years at a time, your bandwidth will always reset monthly.
Those with plans expressed in Mbps or Gbps are measured using the 95th percentile starting on the date your service commences and ending on the same day the following month. If you exceed the amount your plan comes with, you will receive an overage charge. Mean Servers can provide you with your custom link to your services bandwidth monitoring graph on request.
Clients with an unmetered plan (the plan will always expressly say unmetered) never need to worry about overages as their port speed will be capped to the plan's designated speed. You won't be able to burst past this speed as you can with plans measured using the 95th percentile but you also never need to worry about overages.
